Mr. Li Yiwei, Secretary of CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of Huizhou Municipal People’s Congress and Mr. Liu Ji, Deputy Secretary of CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Huizhou, recently held a meeting with a visiting delegation led by Mr. Thomas Casparie, Executive Vice President of Shell Chemicals and Vice President of CNOOC & Shell Petrochemicals. Both parties held an in-depth discussion about closer cooperation. Other senior executives from Shell Chemicals and senior officials from Huizhou Municipal People’s Government attended the meeting.  

Mr. Li Yiwei gave a brief introduction to Huizhou’s latest economic and social development. He said that as an important node city within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Huizhou would play a key role in helping Shenzhen become a demonstration zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics. Huizhou now increases its efforts to develop the “2+1” modern industrial clusters, namely petrochemical energy & new material and electronic information as well as life health, speed out the development of a 丰-shaped transportation and “one-hour living circle” among GAB cities. Thanks to the new rounds of reform and opening up and overall improvement of business environment, Huizhou has succeeded in attracting the settlement of large enterprises and major investment projects. Mr. Li hoped that Shell Chemicals would seize the rare development opportunities and strengthen cooperation with Huizhou, in particular early construction of the phase three ethylene project of CNOOC & Shell Petrochemicals, so as to achieve a win-win result.

Mr. Thomas Casparie expressed his gratitude to Huizhou municipal government in facilitating the growth of Shell Chemicals in Huizhou. He said that Shell Chemicals valued highly of its growth potentials in China, or Guangdong in particular, and would speed up the construction for the phase three ethylene project of CNOOC & Shell Petrochemicals, thus facilitating Huizhou in becoming a first-class city in China.
